Classic genealogy series Who Do You Think You Are? returns to BBC One in August for its ninth series, delving into the ancestry of some of the UK’s best known faces.

Who Do You Think You Are? continues to make compelling genealogical discoveries which reveal the hidden family histories of the nation’s most renowned celebrities.  Each film opens the door on their personal history allowing viewers to share the highs and lows of their family trees.

Eurythmics singer and political activist, Annie Lennox’s episode uncovers an extraordinary tale of tangled family relationships, revealing dark tales of illegitimacy and poverty.  On her journey she also discovers the humiliation her unmarried great great grandmother suffered before the Scottish church.

Sir Patrick Stewart’s image of his late father is dominated by memories of domestic abuse.  In this deeply personal and moving film, Patrick investigates his father’s extraordinary war career and discovers the shocking impact it had on his character.

Wall to Wall’s ninth series brings together a high profile line up which includes Doctor Who’s River Song Alex Kingston, Coronation Street’s longest serving cast member Bill Roache, celebrated actress Celia Imrie, MasterChef's Gregg Wallace, actor and comedian Hugh Dennis, footballer turned pundit John Barnes, stand-up comedian John Bishop and television and West End actress Samantha Womack.

2012’s series witnesses fascinating tales of infidelity, tragedy and adventure.  Covering over 500 years of history, the programmes unearth secret telegrams and rare and previously undiscovered documents that bring our celebrities’ ancestors to life and tell their stories of trials and triumphs, political intrigue, guilt and treasonous plotting.
