Showdown number seven was always going to be something very special and so it proved. In the three previous years the local derby had produced some amazing crowds, some fantastic football and the record was deadlocked at three all.
The Easter round of 2000 saw the locals at fever pitch.
It might have been 14 v 15 on the ladder but that was inconsequential to the 40,000 who packed Football Park.
Seven minutes into the third term Adelaide trailed by 42 points and the game was all but over. The game needed a hero and Adelaide found one in Mark Ricciuto. He took charge in the midfield and with 25 kicks, 16 handpasses and four goals snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.
Sensational stuff.
The individual highlight. watch out for Andrew McLeod's goal in the last quarter - one of his best. This was a showdown that had everything, including the points for the Crows.
