The Passion: Lessons from the Life of Christ by Ken Duncan, Philipe Antonello....
.
When Mel Gibson first invited Australian
photographer Ken Duncan to shoot a series of
stills on the set of The Passion of The Christ, little did Ken realise the result would be this rather
remarkable book. By the end of his first day on
the set however, Ken knew he had walked into
the middle of something very special. Here was
a movie about the life of Jesus that was like no
other film that had ever been made. No detail
had been overlooked, no expense spared, to make
each scene as authentic and powerful as possible.
The impact upon Ken - as for so many others
involved in the film - was immediate and lasting.
Thus was born the vision for this book.
The possibilities for stills photography in such a
context were obvious. It was like journeying back
to first century Jerusalem, or stepping into a
Caravaggio painting. The sets and costumes had
been meticulously designed, the characters
carefully cast, and the story - of the suffering
Christ - was the most powerful story in the world.
Featuring evocative images by Ken Duncan and
Philippe Antonello. The Passion: Levons from the
Life of Christ confronts readers with both the
beauty and the horror of Christ's incomparable
life and death. Complemented by quotes from
the Scriptures beautiful illustrations a series of
probing interviews with the movie's main players
and behind the scenes images the book explores
themes from the story of Jesus that are of as much
relevance today as they were twenty centuries ago.
Love, joy, peace, faith, forgiveness and much more.
Beautifully designed and reproduced, this is an
encounter with the story of Christ that will move
you, intrigue you and leave you wanting to find
