The Kookaburra Who Stole The Moon - ABC For Kids (CD, 1995).

ITEM DESCRIPTION: Out-of-print, original 1995 Australian-issue CD of Australian Bush Story with Orchestra (and didgeridoo), The Kookaburra Who Stole The Moon.

Inspired by the Aboriginal myth of Tidallic the frog, Aesop’s fables and the Just So Stories by Rudyard Kipling (and stylistically similar to Peter & The Wolf). Originally a theatrical production, the music was composed by Peter Winkler who also narrates the story.

This is a delightful story and a tasteful orchestral composition, depicting the Australian Bush and native animals, and makes for an excellent introduction to the instruments of the orchestra.

Before the story begins, Peter Winkler’s introduction identifies the sound of each instrument with the animal or feature of the story they represent.

There are some additional Movement Games after the story, and a final depiction of the Australian Bush.
