"The Angel Doll" is a timeless and moving tale about the greatest gift of all - love.
Set in a North Carolina maufacturing town during the polio epidemic of 1950, the story is told through the eyes of 10-year old Jerry, who has all the advantages of a middle-class life style, and his best friend Whitey, who lives on welfare with his mother and 4-year old sister, Sandy. Whitey is devoted to his polio stricken sister, who has a fondness for angels and likes to be read to from her favourite book, The Littlest Angel.
He saves money from his paper route to buy her an angel doll, only to discover that there are none in the whole town. With a single-minded determination, Jerry and Whitey set out to find one, and along the way face fear, prejudice and theft.
They learn what is truly important as their lives and the lives of others are affected in a very unexpected way.
TATTLE TALE - To help boost sales of her new kiss-and-tell book VICTIM OF LOVE, Laura Pavot (ALLY SHEEDY Short Circuit / The Breakfast Club) has "invented" a sordid past and blames all her "troubles" on her very innocent ex-husband Bernard (C. THOMAS HOWELL - Soul Man / The Hitcher). When the book becomes a runaway hit, Bernard loses his job and may just lose his mind as people all over town harass and hate him for what he did to their beloved writer. They say that behind every great woman, is a man that wants to get even - and that's exactly what Bernhard does!
