When Tom and Ellen Bowen's (Astaire & Powell) stage show is closed down in New York, they set off for London to do the show, the Royal Wedding. Ellen seems more interested in dating than dancing, this leads to a wondrous dance repartee between the two.
Born Frederick Austerlitz, the son of an Austrian immigrant, Fred Astaire entered show business at age 5. He was successful on Broadway with his sister Adele. When Adele retired to marry 1932, Astaire headed to Hollywood where he would begin his highly successful partnership with Ginger Rogers. Astaire and Rogers made a total of nine musicals together between 1933 and 1939. and although during this period Ginger made several other comedies and solo musicals between her films with Fred, he only made one film without Rogers. It was the only film of his career to lose money at the box-office.
Fred retired in 1945-1947 during which he opened a chain of dancing schools. Fred's retirement was short-lived however. When Gene Kelly broke an ankle playing football and was unable to make Easter parade.
MGM asked Fred to fill in.
Astaire stopped dancing professionally in about 1970 when he was already over 70 years old and died of pneumonia in Los Angeles. California on June 22. 1987 at the age of 88.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
