And, book-ending the story, a frail, elderly priest recognizes the necessity for a show-down with an old demonic enemy.Not only the greatest horror film of all time, but one of the most beautifully filmed, edited, paced and cast motion pictures ever made. Just as effective today as it was in the 70's, possibly even MORE effective as it is so genuinely unnerving and scary compared to the weak ‘jump scares’ and ‘found footage’ of so called horror films of today.
In 2010, the U.S Library of Congress selected the film to be preserved as part of its National Film Registry as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”
