The Most Dramatic Wildlife Spectacles on the Planet
This fantastic series from the BBC's renowned Natural History Unit combines the epic scale of Planet Earth with the intimate, emotional stories of charismatic animals as they struggle to survive. Using state of the art HD technology, these amazing programmes capture the Earth's most dramatic and epic wildlife spectacles and the intimate stories of the animals caught up in them.
Each episode is set in a different part of the world and shows how immense natural forces, often starting thousands of miles away, drive a chain reaction that culminates in a spectacular wildlife event.
The Great Melt: For polar bears this is a moment of jeopardy, but for the arctic fox, beluga whales, thousands of lemmings and flocks of birds this brief summer transforms the Arctic into the richest place on Earth.
The Great Salmon Run: British Columbia's Great Salmon Run where grizzly bears use ingenuity and fancy footwork to collect their catch
The Great Migration: Following the annual rains, East Africa's Serengeti plain flushes green and draws over two million wildebeest, zebra and Thomson's gazelle - but how will they survive the arena of carnivores?
The Great Tide: As winter arrives along South Africa's east coast, the cool waters draw billions of sardines, creating the greatest marine spectacle on the planet when an awe inspiring cast of ocean predators go into a feeding frenzy.
The Great Flood: The dramatic annual flooding of Botswana's Okavango Delta turns 6,000 square miles of desert into a maze of lagoons, islands and swamps. Millions of animals are drawn to the oasis, setting the scene for one of the greatest clashes in nature.
The Great Feast: The plankton bloom of the Great Feast in Alaska's coastal waters attracts humpback whales and sea lions, who face the dangers of killer whales
