Set in the near future, this is a role-playing game in which the main character, an elementary school student, goes on an adventure with the theme of ``Robot Battle (commonly known as Robobottle),'' a game in which robot pets are forced to play against each other. The robots (Medabots) that appear are made up of medals and parts, and by collecting and assembling them, you can create robots with various abilities. These medals and parts can be exchanged with friends using communication cables, or they can be stolen by competing.

Released in Japan in 1997, it is part of the Medarot series, known as "Medabots" in Western regions. The game features a unique blend of RPG elements and robot customization, allowing players to build and battle their own Medarots (robots) using different parts collected throughout the game. In "Kabuto Version," players follow the story of a young hero who dreams of becoming the ultimate Medarot champion. This version focuses on Kabuto (beetle-type) Medarots, offering distinct abilities and parts compared to its counterpart, the Kuwagata Version. The game is celebrated for its strategic depth, character customization, and engaging story, laying the foundation for future titles in the series
