Cattle baron, banker, and model citizen George McLintock (John Wayne) has the world in his hands. The only thing missing is his wife, Katherine (Maureen O'Hara), who left him two years earlier, suspecting him of adultery. In an effort to get on with his life, McLintock saves a beautiful but impoverished widow from resettlement and hires her as his cook, welcoming both her and her two children into his home.
