Meet Australian hero Tom Kruse, the Birdsville Track mail man from the 1930's to the 50's, and the star of the 1954 Australian award-winning classic documentary "The Back of Beyond After more than 40 years Tom's back on the Birdsville Track.
"Last Mail From Birdsville - The Story of Tom Kruse" features the rescue and restoration of his old mail truck - a 1936 Leyland Badger held together at times with 8 gauge fencing wire and melted down .303 bullet casings.
Follow Tom back to the desert near Birdsville to find his old mail truck where he abandoned it in 1957. Watch the truck's remarkable restoration. Then travel with Tom and hundreds of well wishers down the Birdsville Track on one last mail run.
