It's January 6, 1904, on a
snowy night in Dublin. A festive
night at the Morkan house, as
Miss Kate, Miss Julia and their
niece, Mary Jane prepare for their
annual party.
As the guests arrive, join the warmth and life of the evening. Meet the
boisterously drunk Freddy Malins and his disapproving mother. Hear Miss
Julia serenade the guests, and join the dancing, as a poem is read and
toasts are made.
Looking on is Gabriel Conroy, favourite nephew of the Misses Morkan.
With his beautiful wife Gretta, Gabriel plunges into the fun and
festivities. But little does he dream that before the evening
ends he will learn a secret that will change his life forever.
The Dead is a 1987 drama film directed by John Huston, written by his son Tony Huston, and starring his daughter Anjelica Huston. It is an adaptation of the short story of the same name by James Joyce, which was first published in 1914 as the last story in Dubliners
