Jikkyou Pawafuru Puroyakyu or Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyu (lit. "Live Powerful Pro Baseball"), also known simply as Power Pro or Pawapuro to non-Japanese speakers, is a traditionally Japan-only baseball series created by Konami. It is known for its big-headed characters, and addictive arcade-style gameplay. It is long running in Japan, starting out in 1994 for the Super Famicom. The game has also appeared on the Sega Saturn (from 1995 to 1997), the PlayStation (from 1995 to 2003
Jikkyou Powerful Pro Jakyuu, Konami OSA's iconic baseball simulation, is the most popular game based on the sport in Japan. The Jikkyou Pawafuru is a long running baseball series development by Konami that had sold more than 14 millions of copies.
The series are known for the looks of the characters that are totally cartoon done and without legs.The game features different game modes such us vs mode, practice, tournament and season.
Jikkyou Powerful Pro Jakyuu 9: The new volume includes some substantial graphical upgrades, as well as new modes and control schemes to provide even more bang for your big-head baseball yen. Powerful Pro Jakyuu 9 is the first game in the series to employ cel-shaded graphics, granting an even more cartoonish look to the diminuitive ballplayers.
In addition to professional baseball, with the full license of Japan's pro league, Powerful Pro 9 also includes a high-school baseball mode, leading up to the famous Koushien national championship. The emphasis is still on pro team simulation, though -- player data is accurate through April 2002, and the upgraded Pennant Mode includes more detailed team simulation options, as well as super-cute interface graphics. In addition to a detailed trade system, it's also possible to pick up free agents and go after foreign players. Simulations last as long as ten seasons, and teams customized in Pennant Mode are available for play in other modes -- thus, it's possible play a one-off game against the computer or a friend with a personalized team.
Pennant Mode also includes a new practice system, which makes the relationships between players a factor in gameplay as the season progresses. Managing practice sessions so that certain players learn to work together increases their effectiveness in games. The two ancillary modes of note are Home Run Derby and "Home Run-Kun", which is a little less so. Home Run-Kun is a sort of expanded championship version of the regular Derby, where an ambitious young slugger seeks to belt record homers out of 11 famous stadiums, from Tokyo to Fukuoka.
Jikkyou Powerful Pro Jakyuu 9 features the teams and stats for the end of the 2002 season.
Players' facial features can now be added to their characters and users can make adjustments to the players' form and skills.
Jikkyou Pawafuru Major League 2009 will include a " '09 WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC " mode based on the event that begins on March 5th (in Tokyo) with 16 countries and territories throughout the world competing for the title of world champions.
In " '09 WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC " mode, all players competing in the tournament will appear with their actual names, and all participating teams' uniforms and even the stadiums the games are held in between round 2 through the finals have been recreated. Even tournament rules such as "Pitch limit" and "Tie breaker" are included.
Users can choose their team from the 16 competing countries and territories and play the tournament to win the world championship.
"Major Life" mode, which player takes the role of Major League Baseball player from rookie to retirement, now got more enhancements. "Success" Mode, where player trains minor league Baseball players to go for the Major League, will have added numbers of scenario types. The game is ready to deliver enhanced gameplay .
