The game strongly emphasizes manual gear shifting, requiring that the player switch up and down gears with the trigger buttons to increase or decrease speeds. The game features the real-life "Drift King" Keichii Tsuchiya and is based on illegal street racing down Tokyo's Shuto Expressway.
