Charles Bronson stars in this taut thriller as an American expatriate and former drug-smuggler who's attempt at a new life is thwarted by the reappearance of his former comrades.
James Mason plays Ross, a ruthless ruler of the gang who kidnaps Bronson's wife and child in order to get Bronson to carry out a smuggling job for him. Little does he realize what Bronson is capable of.

George Raft, in his famous coin flipping role, is his loyal sidekick in nefarious doings. Ann Dvorak is Carmonte's beautiful sister for whom he has more than normal brotherly feelings.
The legendary Howard Hawks directed this hard-hitting Howard Hughes production with power and style, while Muni's and Raft's performances earned them instant stardom.
