Horse racing is an equestrian sport that has been practiced for millennia. It is inextricably associated with gambling. The common sobriquet for Thoroughbred horse racing is The Sport of Kings. Gambling on horse races is an activity that in 2008 generated a world-wide market worth around US$115 billion.

Japan conducts more than 21,000 horse races a year in one of three types: flat racing, jump racing (races over hurdles), and Ban'ei Racing (also called Draft Racing). The Tokyo Yushun, also called as the Japanese Derby is a Grade 1 flat horse race in Japan for three-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies run over a distance of 2,400 metres (approximately 1 mile 4 furlongs) at the Tokyo Racecourse, Fuchu, Tokyo in late May or early June.

Classic Road Yuushun 2 is one of the games in the Classic Road game series for the Playstation console (Classic Road Yuushun 1 was only released in Sega Saturn) and is also a horse breeding game.

In the game the player can compete in different races around Japan. The game features different horse breeds, racing stadiums, the horses datas from 1988 until 1998 and the goal of the game is to have a horse champion.

The player can't control the horse during the races, so it will depends of the horse training if he will win or not the races, the engine in the races is in 3d.
