Chocobo, that cute birdlike creature of Final Fantasy fame, returns in its very own role-playing adventure. The cutesy appeal of Chocobo's Dungeon 2 may look as if it is aimed at younger players, but there is enough depth here to satisfy older gamers.
For starters, Chocobo's Dungeon 2 lets two players partner in gameplay as they search several randomly generated dungeons that are full of traps, strange devices, and monsters, making the difficulty increase as the game progresses.
Players can combine armor or weapons to form stronger resources in their quest. There are also magic feathers that can aid in your efforts, since they allow gamers to perform magic spells that have an impact on combat. Between your dungeon travels, players are able to explore villages to obtain valuable clues for the journey. In addition, players can use this time to update Chocobo's inventory.
Following the adventures of the first Chocobo Dungeon game, Chocobo and Mog continue to search for treasure. One day, Mog discovers a new Mysterious Dungeon and takes the treasure from inside. This releases a seal which causes the Bahamut to appear just as the dungeons plunges into the ocean. Chocobo is rescued by a young white mage, Shiroma, who is the only human living in the monster village. Chocobo must help Mog, find Bahamut and fix whatever has been unsealed from the Mysterious Dungeon.
Unfortunately, all of the treasure is located in dungeons (all of them are randomly generated so no two games are the same) scattered throughout the world. As with all dungeons, there are monsters guarding the treasure.
As the players advance through multiple levels they encounter traps, treasures and fearsome creatures like goblins, skeletons and the terrifying golem, an extremely strong stone giant created by magic and brought to life in order to protect his party. Along the way they must find the courage and friendship that are the secrets to finishing the game.
If you have a real world friend, he or she can take control of Chocobo’s partner. For even more help, Chocobo and his friends can take the items they find and create new ones. With over 40 hours of gameplay, Chocobo's Dungeon 2 has plenty to keep explorers busy.
