Film Synopses
This documentary features the stories of five young people from the northern suburbs of Adelaide,
South Australia talking about their experiences of growing up queer. The film follows their journeys
through four main themes... coming out, dealing with homophobia, queer stereotypes and hopes and
dreams for the future. This enlightening and heart -warming short film became the inspiration for Not
Waving, Drowning and is not only a beautiful film in its own right, but also a great way to generate
discussion about the issues which impact same-sex attracted young people today.

Film Synopses
Stuart is a teenager struggling to stay afloat. He is taunted as a faggot and cannot get his mind off
Aaron, the best swimmer in class. Stuart hides away from his mum, who cannot understand why Stuart
has been acting strangely, and he finds a destructive way to deal with his feelings. When Aaron finds
out what Stuart has been doing to himself, his unexpected response is enough to save Stuart from going
under. 'Not Waving, Drowning' is a short drama filmed in Adelaide, South Australia and aims to generate
awareness among the wider community of the issues facing same-sex attracted young people.

Our team aim to pack, check and dispatch orders within 24 hours of receiving your order Monday to Friday. Where an order is placed after 2pm AEST on Friday it may not be dispatched until Monday. During the Christmas holiday season, orders may take more than 24 hours before dispatch.
Overseas deliveries leave our warehouse every Wednesday.
We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
To start a return, you can contact us at info@retrounit.com.au. If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.
