Battle of Crete, as revealed in flash backs by the surviving crew as they cling to a life
raft. Legendary British actor, Sir John Mills, plays Ordinary Seaman "Shorty" Blake.

The crew of HM Submarine Trojan locate an electrically operated mine which
they cannot avoid. A tremendous explosion rips the vessel's hull and sends it to
the bottom of the sea. Emergency signals are sent and the Captain assembles the
survivors to create an escape plan. but a tense realisation dawns on the remaining
crew: not all sailors will make it out alive.
