In 1938, Owen Wright and his cousin Ted
White spent three months driving Ted's old
Morris car from London to Calcutta - a trip
made just before the upheaval and devastation
of the Second World War.
From the brooding tension of a Germany
already under the influence of Nazism, through
the rough and sometimes inhospitable terrain
of Turkey, the Middle East and Iran, and finally
to the relative safety of an India still under
British rule, Owen and Ted recorded
impressions of diverse countries and cultures,
some of which were soon to change dramatically,
The logbook kept during their trip, as well as
Owens diary and letters home and Ted's superb
collection of evocative photographs, recreate
the atmosphere of this adventurous journey
